Join us for a day dedicated to the study and discussion of Jane Austen's last novel,"Persuasion",  published posthumously in 1818.  Outstanding Austen scholars, Dr. Elaine Bander, Dr. Joan Ray and Dr. Katie Davis will discuss and share unique insights into this novel of love and second chances.

"Will and Jane:  Shakespeare, Austen and the Cult of Celebrity"

 commemorating  the 400th anniversary of Shakepeare's death
and the 200th anniversary of Austen's  

In this illustrated presentation of exhibition highlights, Barchas and Straub will talk about learning to work with historic non-book artifacts, offer “behind the scenes” stories, and describe the responses from a record-breaking number of visitors. This event is an official fundraiser for Chawton House Library, sponsored by the North American Friends of Chawton House Library (NAFCHL) in partnership with Jane Austen Society of North America – North Texas Region (JASNA-NTX). Formerly the home of Jane Austen’s brother Edward Knight, Chawton House is now an internationally-renowned library and center for the study of early women writers from about 1600 to 1830 and continues to be instrumental in recovering our female literary heritage.

In addition, there will be a book signing will be held of all authors.  Books will be available for purchase or you are welcome to bring your own to be signed.
